Case Overview
In Bhutan’s mountain valleys, access roads are narrow and sites can be hours from the nearest town. A local contractor was commissioned to install solar water heating at a hospital and neighbouring buildings. Millionsun supplied large flat plate arrays with knock-down ground frames and raised tank stands, designed so that the whole system could be carried, assembled and maintained with local labour.

Client Requirements
For the contractor, the challenge was logistics and long-term maintainability, as much as the product itself.
- Transport to remote sites: packaging and component sizes that suit mountain roads and manual carrying.
- Cold conditions: collectors and pipework that tolerate frost and big temperature swings.
- Gravity-fed supply: tank positions that avoid unnecessary pumps.
- Simple maintenance: a layout that site staff can inspect, drain and clean.
Our Solution
We designed the supply around transport, assembly on site and simple operation.
- Knock-down frames: galvanised steel frames in sections that can be hand-carried and bolted together on site.
- Collector build: robust flat plate units with tempered glass and an insulated back.
- Elevated tank stands: stands for insulated tanks, with isolation valves and drain points for winter care.
- Spare glass and fittings: included in the shipment, as replacements are slow to arrive.
- Operation notes: a short guide to filling, draining and winter shutdown for the site team.

OEM & private label
Your brand on tanks, collectors, cartons and manuals, built to your specification and tested before dispatch.
Parts & components
Controllers, pump stations, fittings and spare parts supplied with or after the shipment, so your crews are never stuck.
Technical support
Sizing and layout checks, installation drawings, training material and after-sales help for your engineers and installers.
The Result
The contractor completed installations that local staff can maintain, and has a repeatable approach for further sites.
- Knock-down frames kept transport and installation manageable in the mountains.
- Spare parts on site reduce downtime between maintenance visits.
- The contractor can offer a proven package to other clinics and institutional buildings.
